Release Notes - v0.1.0

Release Date: 2026-03-01

Highlights

  • Declarative specification framework for defining complete design systems as machine-readable, LLM-optimized code
  • Go SDK with types for 9 canonical layers: Meta, Principles, Foundations, Components, Patterns, Templates, Content, Accessibility, Governance

What's New

Go SDK (sdk/go)

A complete type system for expressing design systems declaratively:

  • Meta - System metadata (name, version, maturity, maintainers)
  • Principles - Design philosophy and brand values
  • Foundations - Design tokens: colors, typography, spacing, elevation, motion, grid, breakpoints, borders, opacity, z-index
  • Components - UI elements with variants, states, props, slots, and constraints
  • Patterns - Multi-component UX solutions with layouts
  • Templates - Page-level layouts with regions
  • Content - Voice, tone, terminology, and microcopy guidelines
  • Accessibility - WCAG requirements, keyboard, and screen reader support
  • Governance - Versioning, contribution, and deprecation policies

LLM Optimization

LLMContext type for AI code generation with: - Intent descriptions - Allowed/forbidden contexts - Anti-patterns - Example usage - Semantic meaning - Priority scoring

Tools

  • Schema Generator (tools/generate) - Produces JSON Schema files from Go types
  • File Loader - Load specs from JSON/YAML files or directory structures
  • Makefile - Build targets for testing, linting, and schema generation

JSON Schemas

Pre-generated schemas in schema/ directory: - design-system.schema.json (root) - meta.schema.json - foundations/foundations.schema.json - components/component.schema.json - patterns.schema.json - templates.schema.json - accessibility.schema.json - governance.schema.json

Installation

go get github.com/plexusone/design-system-spec/sdk/go@v0.1.0

Quick Start

import dss "github.com/plexusone/design-system-spec/sdk/go"

ds := dss.DesignSystem{
    Meta: dss.Meta{
        Name:    "My Design System",
        Version: "1.0.0",
    },
    Foundations: dss.Foundations{
        Colors: []dss.ColorToken{
            {ID: "primary-500", Value: "#0066CC", Semantic: "primary"},
        },
    },
}

What's Next

See TASKS.md for the roadmap:

  • Phase 3 - CLI tool (dss validate, dss lint, dss generate)
  • Phase 4 - Agent team for validation
  • Phase 5 - Examples & documentation
