Success Criteria¶
- [ ] Tavus avatar joins room and lip-syncs to agent speech
- [ ] Interruption works (clear buffer stops avatar)
- [ ] End-to-end latency <500ms
- [ ] Example app demonstrates usage
Risks¶
- LiveKit Go SDK may lack ByteStream/RPC support
- Tavus API changes or rate limits
Version 0.3.0 - Multi-Provider (Target: Q4 2025)¶

- [ ] Custom avatar creation documented
Risks¶
- Not all providers support emotions/gestures
- Performance overhead of advanced features
Version 0.5.0 - Enterprise (Target: Q2 2026)¶
Theme: Enterprise-grade features for production deployments.
Features¶
| Feature | Priority | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-avatar support (multiple agents in one room) | P1 | Planned |
| Cost management (usage tracking, alerts) | P1 | Planned |
| Compliance features (data residency, audit logs) | P1 | Planned |
| Graceful degradation (fallback to static avatar) | P0 | Planned |
| High availability (provider failover) | P1 | Planned |
| Rate limiting and quotas | P2 | Planned |
Success Criteria¶
- [ ] Multiple avatars work in same room
- [ ] Usage tracking with cost estimates
- [ ] Automatic fallback on provider failure
- [ ] Audit logs for compliance
Risks¶
- Multi-avatar coordination complexity
- Provider pricing unpredictability
Version 1.0.0 - Production Ready (Target: Q3 2026)¶
Theme: Stable, production-ready release with comprehensive documentation.
Features¶
| Feature | Priority | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Stable, versioned APIs | P0 | Planned |
| Comprehensive documentation | P0 | Planned |
| Performance tuning guide | P1 | Planned |
| Migration guides | P1 | Planned |

| Backward compatibility guarantees | P0 | Planned |
Success Criteria¶
- [ ] No breaking API changes post-1.0
- [ ] All documentation complete and reviewed
- [ ] Security audit passed
- [ ] Performance benchmarks published
- [ ] 10+ production deployments
Risks¶
- Scope creep delaying 1.0
- Breaking changes discovered late
Future Exploration (Post 1.0)¶
Local Avatar Generation¶
Generate avatars locally without external providers:
- Open-source lip-sync models (Wav2Lip, SadTalker)
- GPU acceleration on agent host
- Privacy-sensitive deployments
Challenges: Computational requirements, model licensing, quality vs cloud providers.
AR/VR Integration¶
Avatars in immersive environments:
- WebXR integration
- Spatial audio coordination
- 3D avatar models
Challenges: Platform fragmentation, performance, new SDKs.
Holographic Displays¶
Physical avatar presence:
- Looking Glass displays
- Pepper's ghost setups
- Telepresence robots
Challenges: Hardware requirements, niche market.
